Design duo Storm Thorgerson Aubrey Powell better known by their collective name Hipgnosis are renowned in the music world for creating iconic cover art for rock and roll greats. From Pink Floyd to Paul McCartney, Hipgnosis have been behind some of the most well know and well loved album artworks, shaping the aesthetic of the music industry since the late 1960s. This new series of limited editions brings the images back to life as archival inkjet prints, each one in beautiful, never before seen, clarity. ‘Difficult To Cure Rainbow’ is a reprint of the 1981 Rainbow album of the same title, featuring a group of surgeons, posing in a mock rock’n’roll formation. There’s something eerie about the image the ubiquitous face masks, green gowns and yellow gloves which is visually striking and powerful, even when removed from its musical context.
